Fall Fête Drinks

For beverages, I like to have two simple cocktails and then wine, beer, etc. I am not a mixologist, and know that as hostess I need something to look effortless! So I made "Basic B’s Fall Mimosas" (Cider Mimosa) and "Basic Bro’s Whiskey" (Pumpkin Spice Bourbon Spritz). Both were really easy, and the work for the bourbon drink was ahead of time, so no sweat!
I also had Smuttynose Pumpkin Beer, seltzer, sparkling rose (duh!), and soda on hand for guests that didn’t want a cocktail.
Basic B’s Fall Mimosas
(Cider Mimosa)
A delightful play on the old standard mimosa for the basic fall bitch in all of us.
Ingredients:
Brut Champagne or Prosecco
Apple Cider (non-alcoholic)
Directions:
- Pour champagne into a coupe or flute glass.
- Add a touch of apple cider for a bit of flavor.
- Serve and enjoy!
*Alternatively you could rim the glass with gold sanding sugar and simple syrup… but for ladies who love lipstick it makes a bit of a mess!
Basic Bro’s Whiskey
(Pumpkin Spice Whiskey Cocktails)
For our boys who love all the pumpkin things too!
Ingredients:
For the Syrup:
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
1 inch chunk of fresh ginger, peeled
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
small pinch of ground cloves
small pinch of ground allspice
For the Cocktails:
Whisky
Ice Cubes
Seltzer
Directions:
- In a small saucepan over medium-high heat bring to a simmer all the ingredients for the simple syrup. Reduce heat to medium-low and continue simmering for about 5-8 minutes, continuously stirring. Taste and season to your liking. Remove ginger root and strain the mixture through a sieve.
- For each cocktail combine 1-2 tablespoons of the simple syrup with about 2 shots of whisky and top with soda water. Stir well. Add ice cubes and devour!
